Our Currrent Activitis

Early Identification

Vikasam conducts capacity-building training programmes for Anganwadi workers and school teachers, enabling them to identify developmental delays and disabilities using developmental milestones.

Over 200 children have been identified across Bantwal Taluk

Identified children are referred to Vikasam for timely early intervention services


Early intervention

Vikasam operates a state-of-the-art Early Intervention Centre at B.C. Road, staffed by a multidisciplinary team of five qualified professionals, including trained teachers, therapists, and trainers.

Impact

  • More than 50 children have received early intervention services
  • Currently, 20 Divyang (specially-abled) children are actively receiving various therapies
  • Majority of the children served are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Mainstreaming & School Support
  • All children enrolled at Vikasam are integrated into regular schools or Anganwadis.
  • Vikasam’s experts conduct regular school visits
  • Teachers are trained and supported to manage inclusive classrooms and address special learning needs effectively

Parental counselling and support

Vikasam provides individual and group counselling sessions at Anganwadis and at the Vikasam Seva Foundation Centre.

These sessions support parents of specially-abled children in coping with:

  • Emotional and psychological stress
  • Grief and anxiety
  • Practical caregiving challenges
  • Social isolation and stigma

Advocacy and Awareness

Vikasam actively conducts public advocacy and awareness programmes to:

  • Sensitize communities on the challenges faced by persons with disabilities
  • Promote awareness of rights, opportunities, and government entitlements
  • Highlight the importance of early identification, early intervention, and socialization

Conduct awareness and skill trainings for the ASHA/Anganwadi workers and school teachers on early identification of disability among children.
