Early identification of and intervention for the DIVYANG children

Vikasam Seva Foundation was established in 2023 with the objective of early identification, early intervention, and socialization of children with disabilities in B.C. Road, Bantwal Taluk, Dakshina Kannada District. The foundation places special emphasis on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as awareness about autism is very limited in the project area and there are no dedicated early intervention centers for autism in this region.

Vision
A world where specially-abled individuals are valued and have equal opportunities to live a life of dignity and inclusion.
Mission
To deliver meaningful, evidence-based interventions that positively impact the lives of individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism, by addressing health and social inequities.
Vikasam works collaboratively with CSR partners, communities, and government systems to optimize, scale, and sustain inclusive interventions.
Four friends, united by their passion for change, envisioned a center that would empower specially abled children and uplift their families. Fueled by their dreams and shared experiences, they set out on a journey to turn their vision into reality, transforming lives along the way… Vikasam Seva Foundation, is an initiative of likeminded professional social workers, with over 80 cumulative years of experience in the areas of education, public health, care and support services, child rights, corporate social responsibility and importantly working with specially abled “Divyang” Children

“My name is Shyamala (name changed), and I am the proud mother of a 6-year-old boy living in a remote village in Bantwal taluk, D.K District,Karnataka. My world once felt complete, but everything shattered when I began to notice that my son was struggling to reach basic developmental milestones. Despite my endless love and affection, he seemed distant—unable to make eye contact, interact with other children, or express his emotions. His speech was delayed, and he had difficulty focusing on anything for long. Then, a ray of hope appeared in the form of the volunteers from Vikasam Seva Foundation. They held a meeting at our local Anganawadi, I started aligning my son’s situation with what they were talking about, discussing the very challenges I was facing with my son. It resonated deeply with me, prompting me to reach out to them with my concerns. They promptly conducted a home visit and assessed my son’s needs. Their recommendation to enroll him in their daycare center felt like a lifeline. Now, six months later, the transformation has been nothing short of miraculous. I cannot express the joy I feel as I witness my son learning to cope with everyday challenges and developing a sense of independence. The support from Vikasam Seva Foundation has changed our lives ! There are many more to be touched !
